Wooing Words

Layer by layer I slowly undress.

Revealing all my dark crevices, hoping I look my best.

He sits upon the bed appearing perplexed.

As the last piece of my armor falls away I cannot help but say,

“Don’t you like what you see? My body is all I have to give it is the best of me…”

Shaking I see his eyes never leave mine even as he takes off his coat and covers me completely.

“I love what I see as your eyes look back at me. But I want something truly divine. I want time, time to make music with your heartbeat, and time to swim in the depths of your beautiful mind.”

  1. I love this. On the surface, it looks like a heartbreak story- but deeply a love story. A great guy told me ages ago he liked pretty, but was looking for a girl he could rock on the porch with and have conversations with in the twilight years. Could I sit with this person and love them without this body? I like this poem- it reminds me of his sentiment, but in a darker tune.
