Lovely Bruise

Your gorgeous eyes and charming smile knock me off my feet.

Instantly I feel a deep, red, burning heat.

Oh how quickly I turn so blue when I am not with you.

The way you hold me, makes me feel robed in purple like royalty.

Soon I grow sore and turn green with envy.

As your gaze strays on others and not on me.

The lovely bruise lingers a sickly yellow.

A nice reminder, you never were the one, just another fellow.

And as the memories of us fade away I look forward to a brand new day.

Writer’s prompt: Write a story in which the truth about a relationship appears and/or evaporates in stages, like a bruise.

A fly away day dreamer happily grounded by a child on each foot and a wonderful husband who always has my back. So I write my daydreams for now until our children develop wings of their own.
